Our Very First Fundraiser!

URGENT: Funding Flash Point

What we do:

Support hands-on conservation actions by:

  1. Encourage law enforcement efforts to save endangered species from illegal pet trade;
  2. Financially support rescue & rehab groups in the tropics to release confiscated birds;
  3. Personally donate endangered species to breeding consortiums working with governments for potential release of offspring back in to the wild (Australia and Indonesia)

Locally:

  1. Over 200 educational programs a year at schools, churches, retirement homes, camps, scouting events, bird-day parties, and corporate events;
  2. Take in unwanted pet birds from homes who can no longer care for them, have the time for them, or whose beloved owners have passed away;
  3. Rescued birds are kept for six months to three years – depending upon their specific needs – they are vetted, provided healthier diets, and worked with as long as needed; rescued birds can be rehomed.
  4. Teach understanding of bird behaviors to curb cruelty to pet birds in captivity;
  5. Tutor through plant seminars the significance of growing trees and plants for birds.

Parrot Facts:

  • The normal length of time a parrot is in one home: 3-5 years
  • The normal lifespan of parrots are: 25-100 years

325 species of wild parrots, 1/3 are endangered and 3 have recently gone extinct in the wild – specifically in Brazil.

Historically, 46% of avian extinctions resulted from impacts of invasive alien species and 26% from hunting/trapping on islands. Bird Life Int’l confirms 5 of the 8 confirmed or suspected extinctions took place on the South American mainland, with 4 of them occurring in Brazil.  This is very disturbing and reflects the devastating effects of habitat loss due to rampant deforestation in this part of the world.

Yvonne has traveled extensively to rainforested countries, spent time with forestry officials, and supported native peoples by purchasing their carvings, woven items, etc. Her countless years of raising and keeping birds in captivity, and utilizing them for educational purposes, gives her a unique opportunity to present, in a very fun way, how amazing these beautiful birds are!

Please give what you can today to help us and the birds’ lives in the future!

Birds face a complex interrelationship of pressures, including natural disasters, habitat destruction, hunting for food, feathers and the live bird trade, while at the same time being long-lived and slow-breeding.

Support the reproduction and protection of Bluebirds and their nesting environments!

How To Become a Sponsor – Your Donation is Tax Deductible
In order to provide educational entertainment for terminally ill children, special needs, inner-city school, the elderly, or to present a Christian program to your church, we need your help. The birds food, housing, care, veterinary needs, travel expenses & other operating costs are very expensive. Your tax deductible donation toward sponsoring a program could make hundreds of children or adults happy. Any donation helps us continue providing wholesome entertainment to scouts, schools, churches and community events. Donations also help feed the birds, provide medical care, housing, and transportation to educate through these beautiful birds.

Founder Yvonne Patterson-Burbach has written an incredible article on a vacation to the NorthEastern tip of Australia (Cape York) prior to the horrific fires. Even then we could see fire marks on tree trunks 40′ high, and flood remnants on large boulders 3′ high. It was amazing to us, not seeing a lot of insect life (except mosquitos), how the birds we saw…survived.
This is a two-part article and a fascinating read. You are welcome to download it.
